Learn about our plans for an exciting new neighbourhood in Amble
We’re preparing proposals for up to 300 new homes on land at Gloster Hill, to the north-west of Amble. The plans include affordable housing, public open space, landscaping and play space, alongside drainage features and biodiversity improvements.
Our public consultation is now open, and we’d like to hear your views. You can explore the proposals on this webpage and share your feedback with the project team. Your comments will help shape the planning application before it is submitted to Northumberland County Council.
We are also holding a public consultation event from 3.30pm to 7pm on Wednesday 21 October 2026 at Fourways2, 6 Dilston Terrace, Amble NE65 0DT. Residents are welcome to come along to view the plans, speak to the team and ask questions.
The consultation runs until midnight on Sunday 1 November 2026. If you would like to comment on our plans, please email glosterhill@taylorwimpey-pr.co.uk.
The consultation boards will be available to download from this webpage from Wednesday 21 October.

Masterplan
Homes proposed
Our proposals include up to 300 new homes, with a mix of two to five-bedroom properties and approximately 10% affordable housing.
The proposed mix would provide homes of different sizes to help meet local housing needs. Around 30 affordable homes would be provided as part of the current proposals.
The final number and mix of homes would be developed through the planning process. Detailed house designs and materials would be considered at a later stage, taking account of local character and the site’s surroundings.
About our proposals features
Connectivity
Our proposals include two vehicle access points, improved walking routes and upgrades to nearby bus stops, helping connect the new homes with the rest of Amble.
The proposed main access would be from the south-west through an extension of Shoreham Drive, linking to the B6345. A second access would connect from the east via Cove Way, Mariners View and Gloster Hill towards the A1068. A looped road would connect the two accesses within the development.
The existing public footpath along the southern boundary would be widened and resurfaced, with direct walking links into the new neighbourhood. Improvements are also proposed to bus stops on The Wynd, including new shelters and raised kerbs.
A Transport Assessment and Travel Plan would accompany the planning application, considering the development’s transport needs and ways to encourage walking, cycling and public transport use.
Drainage
The proposals include sustainable drainage features to manage rainwater safely. The aim would be to avoid increasing flood risk on the site or neighbouring land.
Drainage features would collect rainwater and release it slowly, helping manage surface water. The detailed approach would be informed by technical assessments and take account of heavier rainfall and climate change. These features could form part of the green spaces and provide habitats for wildlife.

Economic benefits
Construction would create employment and local business opportunities, while new residents would help sustain local shops, services and facilities over the longer term.
These figures are indicative and may change as the proposals develop.
Open space
Our proposals include connected green spaces, new planting and children’s play areas, creating places for residents and the wider community to enjoy.
The emerging plans include a larger area of open space with a children’s play area in the east, alongside a smaller, informal play space in the west.
Existing trees and hedgerows would be retained wherever possible, with walking routes and green corridors connecting different parts of the development. Open space would also help retain views towards Warkworth Castle from higher parts of the site.
New planting along the western and north-western edges would help the development sit within the surrounding landscape.
Amenities and facilities
Gloster Hill is located next to existing neighbourhoods on the western edge of Amble, with access to local shops, schools, public transport and community facilities.
The proposed homes would be focused towards the southern and eastern parts of the site, closest to existing neighbourhoods and local services. Walking connections would link the development to the surrounding area, helping residents reach everyday amenities and nearby bus stops.
The proposals also include public open space and children’s play areas, providing places to spend time outdoors within the new neighbourhood.
